Cora describes itself as Canada's largest sit-down breakfast and lunch chain, with more than 130 locations from coast to coast. That "and lunch" part matters more than it looks. Cora isn't a breakfast restaurant with a few sandwiches bolted on. The menu carries a full lunch lineup, sandwiches, paninis, skillets, poutine, that sits alongside the crêpes and eggs benedict, and it all runs on the same clock until the doors shut in the early afternoon.

Which dish family is cheapest: the full ranking

Cora sorts its own menu by dish family, so I did the thing the menu doesn't: I found the entry price and the ceiling price inside each family, then ranked all twelve food families from cheapest floor to priciest floor. I left Beverages out of this ranking because it's drinks, not a plate, and I left Cora's Favourites out of the ranking itself for a reason explained below.

Three families tie for the cheapest entry point at $12.95: Egg plates, Sandwiches and Rebel Festival. That's your floor at Cora, a basic egg plate, a plain tuna melt or a grilled cheese pizza, all landing at the same price.

The biggest single jump between families sits right after that floor. Egg plates, Sandwiches and Rebel Festival all start at $12.95, but the next cheapest family, Teen favourites, doesn't start until $14.95. That's a $2.00 gap, the widest step in the whole ranking. Every jump after that is $1.00 or smaller until you reach Skillets and Crêpomelettes at $19.25.

Sandwiches is the widest family on the menu at $11.70 between its floor and ceiling, because it stretches from a bare Tuna Melt at $12.95 to a Smoked Meat Panini with fresh fruit at $24.65. Crêpomelettes is the opposite: all three options, Chorizo and Goat Cheese, Spinach and Cheddar, and Western-Cheddar, price identically at $19.25. If you want a crêpomelette, the filling doesn't change the bill at all.

One oddity I couldn't fully explain: Triple Chocolate Pancakes is priced flat at $18.55 in the Pancakes family, but the same dish name shows up in Sweet'n Salty as a $18.55 to $20.35 range. The source doesn't say what the extra $1.80 buys, a topping upgrade or a size step, most likely, but I'm not going to guess at it.

Cora's Favourites turns out not to be a separate price tier at all. Every one of its eight items matches a price found elsewhere on the menu: Louis the Undecided ($20.35) is also in Sweet'n Salty, Banana Blast ($18.55) and Sunshine Panini-Crêpe ($19.25) are also in Crêpes, Gigi Omelette ($20.35) is also in Savoury omelettes, Breakfast Poutine ($17.45) is also in Teen favourites, Western-Cheddar Crêpomelette ($19.25) is also in Crêpomelettes, Smoked Meat Panini with Potatoes ($22.35) is also in Sandwiches, and 10 Star ($19.25) matches the 10 Star Skillet. Three items tie for the single cheapest plate at Cora, all at $12.95: the Tuna Melt alone, no potatoes or fruit, the 1 egg with accompaniment and potatoes plate, and the Grilled Cheese Pizza from the Rebel Festival lineup.

At the top of the menu, two very different dishes tie for the most expensive plate at $24.65: the Smoked Meat Panini with Fresh Fruit, and the Smoked Salmon Benedict at three eggs. A sandwich and an egg dish landing on the exact same number is a coincidence worth knowing before you order, since neither is obviously the "premium" pick over the other.

What a breakfast for two actually costs

I built three real combinations from the menu instead of guessing at an average.

Budget order. Two orders of "2 eggs, accompaniment and potatoes" at $13.45 each is $26.90. Add two regular coffees at $2.95 each, $5.90, and the total comes to $32.80 before tax.

A more typical order. A Ham Benedict at 2 eggs ($19.45) and a Western Omelette ($18.75) comes to $38.20. Two regular coffees add $5.90, for a total of $44.10 before tax.

Fruit instead of potatoes. Two "2 eggs with fruit" plates at $15.45 each is $30.90. Swap the coffee for two cappuccinos at $3.95 each, $7.90, and the total lands at $38.80 before tax.

Depending on what you order and drink, breakfast for two at Cora runs from roughly $33 to $44 before tax. Ontario charges 13% HST on top of that, so the budget order in Toronto works out closer to $37.

Teen favourites versus the full-size plates

Cora's own smaller-portion category is labelled Teen favourites, not a kids menu, and it runs from $14.95 (Morning Hot Dogs) to $20.85 (The Club). That floor is $6.20 cheaper than the Gargantuan Breakfast at $21.15 in the Egg plates family, and the whole category sits below most of the named egg plate specialties. I couldn't find priced kids' menu items in the source I used for this page, only a mention that a children's menu exists elsewhere on Cora's full listing, so I'm not going to publish a number I can't back up.

In the Egg plates family, trading potatoes for fruit costs a flat $2.00 more at every egg count: $12.95 becomes $14.95 at one egg, $13.45 becomes $15.45 at two eggs, and $13.95 becomes $15.95 at three eggs. The premium doesn't move with portion size, only the base price does.

In Pancakes, Crêpes and French toast, the swap from a meat plate to a fresh fruit plate costs a smaller $1.00: $16.95 to $17.95 for pancakes, $16.95 to $17.95 for crêpes, and $15.95 to $16.95 for French toast.

Sandwiches carry the steepest fruit premium on the menu.
