Cookie policy

Updated August 6, 2026

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between visits, or between pages during the same visit. This page lists the ones Froqel actually sets, in the order they can appear, rather than the generic categories a template would list. There are fewer than most sites have.

The rule the whole site follows is one sentence: nothing that can recognise you loads until you have said it can. Not a tag waiting to be switched on, not a cookieless ping, nothing. That is a single rule applied to every visitor rather than one behaviour for Europe and a looser one for everyone else, because Quebec's Law 25 is the strictest law that applies to a Canadian site and it is easier to satisfy it everywhere than to maintain two versions and only ever test one.

What is set before you choose

One cookie, and only after you answer the banner.

froqel_consent is a first-party cookie holding three things: which categories you were shown, what you decided about each, and when. It lasts 180 days. It exists so the banner does not ask again on every page, and so there is a record of what you agreed to — Law 25 expects a consent to be evidenced, and with no server behind this site the evidence is the cookie itself. It cannot be switched off, because switching it off is what makes a banner follow a reader around.

If you close the banner without answering, nothing is stored and nothing loads. Continuing to browse is not treated as agreement.

What is set if you accept measurement

Google Analytics 4, and nothing else.

If you accept the measurement category, Froqel loads Google's tag, which sets _ga and a _ga_ cookie naming this property. They hold a randomly generated identifier for the browser, not for you, and they last up to two years unless you clear them sooner. What Froqel reads from them is which pages get opened, roughly where in the world from, what referred the visit, and how long it lasted. That is what decides which prices get rechecked first, which is the only reason it is here.

If you decline, the tag is never fetched. Not loaded and held back — never requested at all. There is no request to Google from this site, and no ping without a cookie either.

What is not set at all

Advertising cookies. None, today.

Froqel intends to run Google AdSense eventually, because hosting and the hours it takes to check prices in person are paid for somehow, and the alternative is charging readers for a number they can check themselves. That has not started. There is no ad code on any page of this site, the advertising category does not appear in the banner, and no ad vendor is being sent anything.

When that changes, three things change with it, and this page will say so before it happens rather than after: the banner gains a second, separate advertising checkbox; the advertising section of the privacy policy starts describing something that is running; and for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google requires the banner to be replaced by a consent platform it has certified, so it will be.

How to change your mind

Four ways, in the order of how much they cover.

Cookie choices, at the bottom of every page, reopens the banner with your current answer showing. Turning a category off takes effect immediately, without a reload. Withdrawing is meant to be exactly as easy as agreeing was, and it is the same two clicks.

Your browser settings block or delete cookies from any site, Froqel included, whenever you like. Every major browser documents this in its own settings.

Google Ads Settings turns off personalised advertising from Google across every site that uses it, not only this one. It has nothing to do with Froqel today, and will be worth knowing about when advertising starts.

aboutads.info does the same for other participating advertising vendors in one place, rather than site by site.

What breaks if you refuse

Nothing.

Every page, every price table and every comparison is available whether you accept everything or nothing. Nothing on this site sits behind a login, a paywall or a cookie wall, and the search box works either way, because the price index it reads is a static file and not a service that watches who asked. Refusing measurement means your visit is not counted. That is the whole consequence.
