Fast-food combos under $10 in Canada: the complete verified list

Verified August 6, 2026Updated September 1, 2026CAD, before taxGuide

A flagship combo in Canada now costs $13 to $17. A Whopper medium combo is $13.19, a Dave's Single combo $12.49, a Big Mac Extra Value Meal $14.79. If your lunch is a ten-dollar bill, none of those are on the table.

What is still on the table is narrower than most people expect, and it is concentrated in one place. Across the five menu files behind this site, almost every complete combo under $10 is at Burger King, and the cheapest full meal in the country is still its $5.69 small combo.

There is also one price on that menu that does not behave like anything else on it. The Original Chicken Sandwich costs $5.99 on its own and $8.00 as a medium combo. That step-up is $2.01, on a menu where a Cheeseburger's step-up is $6.10.

What this counts, and what it doesn't

A combo here means a sandwich or a main, a side, and a drink, at an everyday menu price, with no app coupon or limited-time flyer required. Every figure comes from a verified menu file on this site rather than from a promotion running this week.

Two limits worth stating up front.

There are no protein figures on this page. The menu files behind this site carry prices, and they carry calorie counts for some chains, but they do not carry grams of protein. Ranking eight combos by protein per dollar would mean typing in numbers from somewhere I have not verified and presenting them as though I had, so the ranking here is by price, with calories shown where the file has them.

Calorie data is uneven. McDonald's publishes calorie ranges against its meals, and those are carried through below. The Burger King file has no calorie column at all, so the chain that wins on price cannot be checked on calories at all. A&W's file has calories but no combo prices, so it cannot appear here either.

Wendy'sEgg & Cheese Classic breakfast combo$7.19
Harvey'snone; the cheapest meal built by hand is $8.47$8.47

A&W is not in that table. Its verified file carries calorie counts but no combo prices at all, so there is no meal price to rank it on, and inventing one to fill the row would defeat the point of ranking.

McDonald's is the only chain of the five whose file publishes a calorie range against the meal itself, so its three meals are the only ones that can be checked on more than price:

The cheapest complete meal at each chain
ComboPriceCalories
Double Hamburger Extra Value Meal$6.69560 to 710
McDouble McValue Meal$6.69610 to 760
Junior Chicken McValue Meal$6.69620 to 770

Burger King's $5.69 small combo is the cheapest complete meal across all five files, and four different sandwiches share the price: the Cheeseburger, the Bacon Cheeseburger, the Chicken Jr. and the Spicy Chicken Jr. It is also the only small combo Burger King sells, which is why nothing else on that menu comes close to it.

McDonald's sets a flat $6.69 for its three value meals and does not go below it. The Double Hamburger meal is the lightest of the three at 560 to 710 calories; the Junior Chicken is the heaviest at 620 to 770, for the same money.

Wendy's has no lunch combo under $10 at all. Its cheapest combo of any kind is a breakfast one, the Egg & Cheese Classic at $7.19, and the reason is structural: a Wendy's lunch combo adds a flat $5.20 to the sandwich, so even the cheapest sandwich that offers a combo lands above the line. The six cheapest burgers Wendy's sells cannot be ordered as a combo at all.

Harvey's has no adult meal bundle under $9. The $8.47 line above is one I built by hand from its Value Picks — a Jr. Burger at $2.79, Regular Fries at $3.89 and a Tea at $1.79 — and it comes in cheaper than Harvey's own Jr. Burger Kids Meal at $4.99 once you account for the kids' portion being smaller.

Burger King's sub-$10 board, in full

Because one chain holds nearly all of these, here is that chain's whole sub-$10 combo list from its verified file, cheapest first. Medium and large refer to the side and drink sizes.

The $8.00 anomaly

Read the step-up column and the Original Chicken Sandwich stops making sense.

Every cheap sandwich on this menu pays about $6.10 to become a medium combo. The Hamburger goes $2.49 to $8.59. The Cheeseburger goes $2.99 to $9.09. The Chicken Jr. goes $3.19 to $9.29. That is the same $6.10 three times, on three different sandwiches.

The Original Chicken Sandwich goes $5.99 to $8.00. Two dollars and one cent for the same fries and the same drink.

At the other end of the same menu, the priciest sandwiches pay the least: a Roadhouse Crispy Chicken Sandwich at $9.59 becomes a $14.19 medium combo, a step of $4.60. So the pattern across the board is that the more expensive your sandwich, the cheaper the meal upgrade — and the Original Chicken breaks even that pattern by a wide margin.

Whatever the reason, the consequence is simple. If you want the most food for a note under ten dollars at Burger King, the Original Chicken Sandwich medium combo at $8.00 is the outlier the rest of the board cannot match, and the Cheeseburger small combo at $5.69 is the floor.

Where the ten-dollar meal has gone

Three chains here no longer sell a full adult combo under $10 at everyday prices, and the reasons differ.

Wendy's prices the combo itself rather than the meal. A flat $5.20 step-up is generous at the top of the menu, where it undercuts buying the largest fries and drink separately by $3.38, and it is fatal at the bottom, where it puts every cheap sandwich over the line. The chain's own answer is to simply not offer a combo on its six cheapest burgers.

Harvey's has a genuinely cheap value line, with nothing on Harv's Value Picks above $5.09, but it never bundles that line into a meal. You can assemble one for $8.47, and you have to do the assembling.

A&W's verified file does not carry combo pricing, so I cannot place it on this page in either direction. Its à la carte value end is real — a Buddy Burger is $2.99 — but what the combo costs is not something I have checked.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest fast-food combo in Canada?

Burger King's small combo at $5.69, which includes a sandwich, small fries and a small fountain drink. Four sandwiches share that price: the Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Chicken Jr. and Spicy Chicken Jr.

Does McDonald's have a meal under $10 in Canada?

Yes, three of them, all at $6.69: the McDouble McValue Meal, the Junior Chicken McValue Meal and the Double Hamburger Extra Value Meal. McDonald's does not price a value meal below that at the location behind this site's file.

Why doesn't Wendy's have a combo under $10?

Because its combo step-up is a flat $5.20 regardless of the sandwich. On a cheap sandwich that lands the meal above $10, and Wendy's does not offer a combo on its six cheapest burgers at all. Its only combo under $10 is a breakfast one, the Egg & Cheese Classic at $7.19.

Which sub-$10 combo has the most food?

On calories, the only sub-$10 combos with published figures are McDonald's three $6.69 meals, and the Junior Chicken McValue Meal is the largest at 620 to 770 calories. Burger King's file carries no calorie column, so its combos cannot be compared on that basis at all.

How much protein is in these combos?

I do not have verified protein figures for them, so there are none on this page. Each chain publishes nutrition information for its Canadian menu; if you are tracking protein specifically, that disclosure is the source to use rather than a third-party table.

Do these prices include tax?

No. Canadian menu prices exclude tax. Burger King's $5.69 combo comes to $6.43 with Ontario's 13% HST, or $5.97 in Alberta where only the 5% GST applies.

Methodology and disclaimer

Combo prices and calorie figures come from the verified menu files behind this site's Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Harvey's and A&W pages, recorded August 2026, and from the cheapest fast food comparison. The McDonald's file is a single Toronto restaurant; the others do not name a location. Where a file lacks calorie or combo data, the chain is named in the text and left out of the table that would have carried an empty cell, rather than having one estimated for it. No protein figures are published here because none have been verified. Prices exclude provincial sales taxes and vary by franchise owner.
