Canada's first Burger King opened on Tecumseh Road East in Windsor, Ontario in September 1969, and that restaurant is still flame-grilling Whoppers today. The chain passed 300 Canadian locations in 2020 and sat at roughly 368 by 2024, with about half of them in Ontario. Its parent company, Restaurant Brands International, has its head office on King Street West in Toronto, which makes Burger King the only American burger chain in this country whose owner files from a Canadian address.

None of that sets the price of a Whopper. Franchisees do, within the range head office allows, and that is why this page is a dated reference set rather than a national price list.

Adding cheese to a Whopper costs $1.00 and adding bacon costs $1.40, but adding both costs $2.40, so the two toppings price additively with no discount for taking them together. The three Kings all cost the same $10.19 whatever is on them, which means bacon, BBQ sauce and the Roadhouse build are worth nothing against each other here. And the Roadhouse Burger at $2.99 is priced identically to the plain Cheeseburger, the only place on the menu where a named build costs the same as the base it sits on.

Spicy Chicken Wrap$2.99

Spice is free in this section and nowhere else. The Spicy Crispy Chicken, Spicy Original Chicken, Spicy Big Fish and Spicy Chicken Jr. each cost exactly what their plain versions cost, at every size.

The two Original Chicken Sandwich rows are the exception on this whole menu, and I'll come back to them below, because a $5.99 sandwich with an $8.00 medium combo is not priced like anything else Burger King sells.

Onion rings and fries are priced identically at all three sizes, so the choice costs nothing. Have-sies, which splits the container between the two, costs $0.20 more than either one alone at both sizes it comes in. That $0.20 is the price of not deciding.

The four snack boxes all cost $5.00, and whether that's a deal depends entirely on which one you pick. Against a 9-piece Mozzarella Fries at $5.89 it saves $0.89. Against a 10-piece Chicken Nuggets at $4.99 it costs a cent more.

It is also the section that contradicts the one above it, which I've set out further down.

Shakes come in two tiers: $4.29 for the three made from syrup, $4.89 for the three made with candy or cookie mixed in. That $0.60 gap is what Burger King charges for the Smarties and the Oreo.

The Apple Turnovers Deal in the value menu is $2.00 for what the desserts list prices at $1.79 each, so the deal only makes sense if it covers more than one. The source doesn't say how many, so I won't claim it does.

Coffee is the cheapest way to size up at Burger King and the fountain pop is the most expensive. Going from a small coffee to a large costs $0.30. Going from a small fountain drink to a large costs $1.10, nearly four times as much. Tea and hot chocolate cost one price at every size, which means a large tea at $1.69 undercuts a large coffee by $0.30 and a large Coca-Cola by $1.40.

Bottled water at $2.99 costs $0.30 more than a medium fountain drink and $0.10 less than a large one, which puts Dasani almost exactly where the pop it replaces sits.

Five sauces at $0.23 are the cheapest things Burger King sells in Canada. The Ghost Pepper Ranch at $0.49 costs more than twice as much as any of them, which is a steep premium on a dip cup.

The combo step-up is not one number, and it runs backwards

Most Canadian chains charge one flat amount to turn a sandwich into a combo. Burger King charges four different amounts, and the pattern is the opposite of what you would guess: the cheaper your sandwich, the more you pay for the fries and the drink.

The combo step-up is not one number, and it runs backwards
Sandwich tierExampleSandwich priceCost to add a medium combo
Value burgers and Chicken Jr.Hamburger$2.49+$6.10

Quarter Pound Kings, Impossible, VeggieSingle Quarter Pound King$7.49+$4.90
Bacon King, BBQ Bacon King, Roadhouse KingBacon King$10.19+$4.80
Crispy ChickenCrispy Chicken Sandwich$7.19+$4.60

The Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, Bacon Double Cheeseburger, Roadhouse Burger, Chicken Jr. and Spicy Chicken Jr. all pay $6.10. They are the eight cheapest sandwiches on the menu and they carry the highest combo charge on the menu. At the other end, the Crispy Chicken Sandwich pays $4.60, the lowest.

Now measure that against what the same food costs bought separately. Medium fries are $3.49 and a medium fountain drink is $2.69, so the à la carte version of a medium combo is $6.18.

The combo step-up is not one number, and it runs backwards
SandwichCombo addsSame items bought separatelyYou save
Crispy Chicken Sandwich$4.60$6.18$1.58

Single Quarter Pound King$4.90$6.18$1.28
Whopper$5.20$6.18$0.98
Hamburger or Cheeseburger$6.10$6.18$0.08

Eight cents. That is what the combo is worth if you're ordering the cheapest burger on the board. Order the Crispy Chicken instead and the same upgrade saves you nearly twenty times as much.

The large combos behave the same way. Large fries at $3.99 and a large drink at $3.09 come to $7.08 separately; the Whopper's total step to a large combo is $6.20, saving $0.88, while the Cheeseburger's is $7.00, saving the same $0.08.

The practical rule: if you're eating at the value end of the Burger King menu, order the sandwich, the fries and the drink separately, or take the small combo covered below. The medium combo is priced for people buying premium sandwiches.

The Original Chicken Sandwich rows don't add up

One pair of rows sits outside every pattern above. The Original Chicken Sandwich and the Spicy Original Chicken Sandwich cost $5.99, with a medium combo of $8.00 and a large combo of $8.90.

That's a step-up of $2.01 into a medium combo, against $4.60 to $6.10 everywhere else on the menu. It would mean fries and a drink cost less than a third of what the Cheeseburger pays for them. The two combo figures are also suspiciously round, $8.00 and $8.90 exactly, when almost every other price on this menu ends in 9.

I checked the rest of the chicken section and nothing else behaves this way. Either Burger King is running an unusually deep bundle on one sandwich, or these two rows are wrong in the price list this page is built from. I can't tell which from a price list, so I'm flagging them rather than folding them into the averages above. Confirm this one at the counter before you count on it.

Where the value menu and the main menu disagree

Burger King prices the Cheeseburger, the Bacon Cheeseburger and both Chicken Jr. sandwiches twice: once in the main burger and chicken tables, and again in the value menu. The two sets of numbers don't match.

Where the value menu and the main menu disagree
ComboMain menuValue menuGap
Cheeseburger, medium$9.09$9.29$0.20
Cheeseburger, large$9.99$10.29$0.30
Bacon Cheeseburger, medium$10.09$10.29$0.20

Spicy Chicken Jr., medium$9.29$9.49$0.20
Spicy Chicken Jr., large$10.19$10.49$0.30

Every medium differs by exactly $0.20 and every large by exactly $0.30, across four different sandwiches. A gap that consistent isn't a typo in one cell. It reads like two price lists captured at different moments, or one menu board and one app.

I've left both sets in the tables above rather than picking a winner, because I don't know which is current and I'd rather show you the disagreement than hide it. Expect a difference of a quarter or so on these four items depending on where you're reading the price.

The small combo is the only real bargain on this menu

The value menu is the only place Burger King Canada sells a small combo, and at $5.69 it does something no other combo on the menu does: it beats buying the parts by a wide margin.

The small combo is the only real bargain on this menu
Small combo, $5.69SandwichSmall friesSmall drinkSeparatelyCombo saves
Cheeseburger$2.99$2.49$1.99$7.47$1.78

Chicken Jr.$3.19$2.49$1.99$7.67$1.98
Spicy Chicken Jr.$3.19$2.49$1.99$7.67$1.98

The Bacon Cheeseburger small combo is the standout. It costs the same $5.69 as the plain Cheeseburger version despite the sandwich alone costing $1.00 more, so the bacon is free once you're in a small combo, and the whole order comes in $2.78 under its own parts.

Compare that to the medium combo on the same sandwich, which saves $0.08. The small combo saves nearly 35 times more. If you eat at Burger King on a budget, this line of the menu is the entire answer.

One gap worth naming: the source lists a Spicy Chicken Jr. small and large combo but no medium, while the plain Chicken Jr. has all three. I've left the medium out rather than copying the neighbouring price into it.

The 2 Sandwiches Mix n' Match, and when it's worth it

The value menu sells any two sandwiches for $11.00. The source doesn't say which sandwiches qualify, and that matters more here than on any other line of the menu, because the value of the deal swings enormously depending on what you put in it.

The 2 Sandwiches Mix n' Match, and when it's worth it
Two of theseBought separatelyMix n' MatchYou save
Triple Whopper$22.78$11.00$11.78

Crispy Chicken Sandwich$14.38$11.00$3.38
Big Fish$11.98$11.00$0.98

Two Hamburgers cost $4.98 on their own, so putting them in an $11.00 deal would cost you $6.02 for the privilege. The break-even sandwich is one priced at $5.50: anything above that and the deal pays, anything below and it costs you money. Twelve sandwiches on this menu sit under $5.50, so the deal is a trap on roughly a third of the board.

Burger King breakfast, in brief

Burger King serves breakfast across Canada from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily, with some locations running to 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. There is no all-day breakfast.

Burger King breakfast, in brief
Breakfast anchorPrice
Egg and Cheese Wrap, cheapest item$1.99
Small Hash Browns$1.99
Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissan'wich$4.99
Enormous Omelette Sandwich, priciest$6.99
Cheapest full combo$3.99

Breakfast runs on a four-tier ladder the rest of the menu doesn't have, regular plus small, medium and large combos, and the step-ups are far gentler than the ones on this page: $1.50 into a small combo, then $1.00 a size. All 25 breakfast items, the hours day by day, and one genuinely broken price row are on the Burger King Canada breakfast menu page.

Value analysis: the best and worst dollars on this menu

Burger King publishes no calorie counts in the file behind this page, so value here is measured on what a dollar buys as you move up the menu — and on this menu it buys progressively less, which is the opposite of how fast food is supposed to work.

The cheapest sandwiches pay the most to become a meal. The full teardown is in the combo step-up section above, and the headline is worth restating here: turning a value burger into a medium combo costs $6.10, and turning the priciest chicken sandwich into one costs $4.60. Fries and a drink are the same fries and the same drink in both cases. Order at the cheap end of this menu and you pay a third more for them.

The best value on the menu is the small combo, and it has no competition. At $5.69 it is the cheapest complete meal across the five chains compared in the cheapest fast food guide, and four different sandwiches share the price. It is also the only small combo Burger King sells, which is why nothing else on this menu comes close to it.

The worst value is the Original Chicken Sandwich, and it is worth understanding why. It costs $5.99 alone and $8.00 as a medium combo, a step-up of $2.01 where the same menu charges $6.10 on a Cheeseburger. That is not a bargain hiding in plain sight so much as a number that does not behave like anything else Burger King sells, and the section on it sets out both readings.

At the very bottom of the menu, five dipping sauces cost $0.23 each — the cheapest thing Burger King sells, and cheaper than the sauce at every other chain priced on this site.

Regional price variance: what the same order costs across Canada

Every price above is pre-tax, the way Canadian restaurant menus are priced. Two separate layers move the final number, and only one of them is published.

The tax layer, fixed by statute and identical for every restaurant in a province. Ontario adds 13% HST and holds about half of Burger King's Canadian restaurants; Alberta and the territories charge the 5% GST and nothing else.

Regional price variance: what the same order costs across Canada
OrderPre-taxOntario5% GST onlyGap
BBQ sauce$0.23$0.24$0.24$0.00
Egg and Cheese Wrap, cheapest item$1.99$2.09$2.09$0.00
Hamburger$2.49$2.61$2.61$0.00
Small combo, cheapest full meal$5.69$6.43$5.97$0.46
Whopper$7.99$9.03$8.39$0.64
Whopper Medium Combo$13.19$14.90$13.85$1.06
Triple Whopper Large Combo$17.59$19.88$18.47$1.41

The first three rows cost the same in Toronto as in Calgary, and that is not a rounding error. Ontario rebates the 8% provincial portion of the HST on qualifying prepared food and beverages where the transaction total is $4.00 or less, so small orders pay 5%. Close to half of everything priced on this page sits at or under that line — every sauce, every fountain drink, the coffee, the turnovers, the sundaes, the hash browns and the whole value tier. That is the second-highest share of any chain on this site after Tim Hortons, where it is roughly three quarters.

That makes the cliff easy to walk off:

Regional price variance: what the same order costs across Canada
OrderPre-taxRateTotalWhat the last item cost
Two Egg and Cheese Wraps$3.985%$4.18$2.09, or 105% of a $1.99 wrap
Three Egg and Cheese Wraps$5.9713%$6.75$2.57, or 129% of list

The third wrap costs $2.57 for an item that lists at $1.99, because crossing $4.00 strips the rebate off the two underneath it. Split the order into two transactions and both stay at 5%. The rule is worked through in the six-doughnut tax guide.

The menu-price layer, which Burger King does not fix nationally. I haven't verified a separate provincial price list and I'm not going to publish one I can't stand behind. What drives that layer is rent, wages and what the local market bears rather than tax — a downtown Toronto or downtown Vancouver restaurant carries a cost base a suburban Alberta drive-thru does not. The only measured example on this site is at Kelsey's, where one item runs $20.99 in Ottawa and $23.99 in Niagara Falls, 14.3% apart inside one province with no tax difference at all. Provinces outside the HST group tax restaurant food differently again, and I have not verified their current treatment item by item, so the 5% column is the floor rather than a claim about any particular province.

Delivery markup: counter price against app price

I have no verified Burger King delivery prices, and I am not going to publish a markup I have not measured. The two Canadian markups that have been measured are a flat 20.0% at Kelsey's and a flat $1.40 per item at Swiss Chalet, and applying both to Burger King's real counter prices shows what each pattern would do here:

Delivery markup: counter price against app price
ItemCounterUnder a 20% markupUnder a flat $1.40What $1.40 is, as a percentage
Egg and Cheese Wrap$1.99$2.39$3.3970.4%
Hamburger$2.49$2.99$3.8956.2%
Whopper$7.99$9.59$9.3917.5%
Bacon Cheeseburger Large Combo$11.29$13.55$12.6912.4%
Whopper Medium Combo$13.19$15.83$14.5910.6%

The two columns cross at about $7.00: below it a flat surcharge is the worse deal, above it a percentage is. Because 56% of this menu sits under $4.00, most of what Burger King sells falls on the wrong side of that crossover — a fixed surcharge is regressive by construction, and the cheaper the order, the larger the share it takes.

There is a second effect that only bites on this menu. Delivery pricing pushes an order over Ontario's $4.00 threshold that would have stayed under it at the counter: a $2.49 Hamburger is taxed at 5% in the restaurant and, under either markup modelled above, would be taxed at 5% still — but two of them at the counter come to $4.98 and 13% either way. The markup and the tax cliff compound rather than cancel.

The restaurant sets the in-app price, not the platform, so SkipTheDishes, Uber Eats and DoorDash listings for the same restaurant usually start from the same marked-up list and diverge in the fee stack. I have not matched Burger King prices across the three and will not name a cheapest one. The cross-chain comparison is in the delivery app markup guide.

Alternatives if you want to compare

Burger King's nearest competitor by format is Wendy's, priced item by item here, and the two make an instructive pair: Wendy's charges one flat $5.20 to add a combo to almost anything, while Burger King charges between $4.60 and $6.10 depending on what you started with. If you order value-tier burgers, that difference is worth more than the gap between the sandwiches themselves.

McDonald's Canada menu prices on this site come from a single verified Toronto restaurant rather than a consolidated list, which makes them the firmer number of the three even though they cover one address. For a Canadian-owned chain in the same aisle, Harvey's menu prices charge by topping instead of by build. And the cheapest fast food in Canada lines five chains up on cheapest item, cheapest meal and cost per calorie, with Burger King's $5.69 small combo currently holding the cheapest-full-meal spot.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Whopper in Canada?

A Whopper costs $7.99 on its own, $13.19 as a medium combo and $14.19 as a large. With Ontario's 13% HST, the sandwich alone comes to $9.03. Adding cheese takes it to $8.99, bacon to $9.39, and both to $10.39.

Does a Burger King combo cost the same on every sandwich?

No, and this is the thing to know before you order. The step from sandwich to medium combo ranges from $4.60 on the Crispy Chicken Sandwich to $6.10 on the value burgers, with the Whopper family at $5.20 and the Kings between $4.80 and $4.90.

Why do the cheapest Burger King burgers pay the most for a combo?

Burger King prices the combo upgrade by product family rather than as one flat fee, and the value tier carries the highest charge at $6.10. Since medium fries and a medium drink cost $6.18 bought separately, a Cheeseburger combo saves $0.08, while a Crispy Chicken combo saves $1.58.

What is the cheapest full meal at Burger King Canada?

The $5.69 small combo, available on the Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Chicken Jr. and Spicy Chicken Jr. It is the only small combo on the menu and the only one that beats its own parts by a real margin, from $1.78 on the Cheeseburger to $2.78 on the Bacon Cheeseburger.

Is the 2 Sandwiches Mix n' Match worth $11.00?

Only above a break-even sandwich price of $5.50. Two Triple Whoppers would cost $22.78 separately, so the deal saves $11.78; two Hamburgers cost $4.98 separately, so the deal would cost you $6.02. The source doesn't list which sandwiches qualify, so confirm before ordering.

Do Burger King's 8-piece and 10-piece nuggets cost the same per nugget?

Yes, exactly. The 8-piece is $3.99 and the 10-piece is $4.99, both working out to $0.499 a nugget. Buying the bigger box gets you more nuggets but no discount, which is unusual on a fast food menu.

Why do two sections of the Burger King menu list different combo prices?

Because the value menu and the main burger and chicken tables disagree on the same four sandwiches, by exactly $0.20 on every medium combo and $0.30 on every large. That consistency points to two price captures rather than a typo, so expect roughly a quarter of variation on the Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger and both Chicken Jr. combos.

What time does Burger King Canada stop serving breakfast?

At 10:30 a.m. at most locations, with some running to 11:00 a.m. on Sundays, and no all-day breakfast anywhere. The Burger King breakfast page has the hours by day and the full morning price list.

Are Burger King prices the same across Canada?

No. Burger King Canada is a franchise system, and franchisees set prices within the range head office allows, so a Whopper in downtown Toronto and one off a highway in Manitoba can differ. Tax differs too: 13% HST in Ontario against 5% GST in Alberta on the same order.

Methodology and disclaimer

Every price on this page comes from one consolidated Burger King Canada price list, kept in the four-tier and three-tier structures Burger King itself uses, and nothing here is drawn from a delivery app. Where the source listed no combo price, the item is published on the price it does have, in its own table, instead of sitting in a combo table against an inferred figure. Where the source contradicted itself, in the value menu against the main menu, I published both figures and the size of the gap rather than choosing one.

Every step-up, break-even and tax figure above is arithmetic I did on those listed prices, shown with the working so it can be checked. The $6.18 and $7.08 à la carte comparisons use Burger King's own medium and large fries and fountain drink prices from the sides and drinks tables on this page. The Windsor opening in September 1969, the 300th Canadian restaurant in 2020, the count of roughly 368 locations as of 2024 and the Toronto head office of Restaurant Brands International come from the company's own announcements and public filings, not from the price list.

Prices vary by location and change without notice. The date at the top of this page is the only guarantee of when these numbers were correct.
